This guy reminds me a lot of Kugayama from Genshiken. I know the stuttering was just supposed to be him trying to think up good anime puns, but I can't help but think of Kugayama's stutter. Which, really, is a cool thing in my opinion. Great archetype.

Hard to say what's best.
We are used to uni- and bicolored, but your colored stuff looks great too.
