I certainly mean no disrespect to you– I’m a fan of yours and of College Humor. I can’t resist pointing out the irony, however, that your CH is very guilty of being an aggregator that often does not give credit to the original creator. I praise you for creating this!

I really like this flowchart. I find a lot great things on College Humor’s Today’s Big Thing but can’t always find the source and thusly cannot share. I understand College Humor wants more people to go to their page to view it, but not crediting the creator is just fucked.

Thanks for speaking your mind! It’s a weird necessary evil that I hope we can eventually be rid of, but we always try do our best to cite creators we feature. It’s admittedly hard sometimes, but if everyone gets better about providing a source for their work (I’m bad at it myself!) I think things will get better!

Sometimes it’s hard to find the source, but I think you’ll find that most times if there’s specifically a creative force behind the video (and not just a random home video of someone’s cat) they’ll do their best to attribute them.

I opted to share the Gizmodo article on Facebook rather than this blog because their title, which is what Facebook users will see along with a thumbnail of the image, was closer to the heading of the comic and overall more enticing. People will relate to and click on “So you found something cool on the internet…” People will ignore and possibly develop a slight itch in response to “See something? Cite something.” unless IP is a pet issue, in which case they’ll feel a moment of smug self-satisfaction and still not click.
